South Lake Tahoe firefighter-paramedic Neil Schnaible is in critical condition following a medical emergency that occurred while he was on duty. Schnaible, a dedicated member of the Lake Valley Fire Protection District, suffered a heart attack while actively responding to an incident. His colleagues immediately sprang into action, administering life-saving measures such as CPR, successfully restoring his pulse at the scene. However, the situation remained dire as Schnaible collapsed, falling to the ground and sustaining serious head injuries, including multiple brain bleeds.
Schnaible was swiftly transported to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he remains under intensive care. Doctors continue to monitor his condition closely as he faces a long and uncertain road to recovery. Colleagues have described him as a calm, professional, and dependable presence within the fire service, someone who is always ready to help others, even in the most challenging circumstances.
