The driver, identified by authorities as CORY DOBERSTEIN, was found in critical condition. Despite rapid intervention from the Phoenix Fire Department and emergency medical personnel, CORY DOBERSTEIN succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

Preliminary findings from investigators suggest that CORY DOBERSTEIN was traveling westbound near the I-10 and 3rd Street off-ramp when his vehicle veered off course and collided with the concrete barrier near Central Avenue and McDowell Road.

While the investigation remains active, police have highlighted two primary areas of focus:

• SPEED: Investigators believe that SPEED was a significant factor in the severity of the impact.
• IMPAIRMENT: At this time, officials have NOT YET DETERMINED if impairment played a role in the accident, pending toxicology results.
